Notes

The Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge surrounds the Peninsula community. The Refuge comprises 7000 acres of wildlife habitat and comprises one of the largest undeveloped parcels of land on the Alabama coast. The environment is a reminder of the Gulf Coast as it once existed. The Refuge has been named one of the ten natural wonders of Alabama. Our community and adjacent Wildlife Refuge are home to bald eagles, blue heron, sea turtles, alligators, osprey, and many other wildlife species.
